Julie leads the development of strategic collaboration and partnering in the Innovative Targets Portfolio and coordinates the DDU’s marketing and commercial activities. This includes external engagement, developing relationships with key stakeholders and partners related to both business-in and business-out activities as well as developing internal strategies to maximise the commercial opportunities of the DDU.
Julie gained several years’ post-doctoral experience working on projects to study gene expression in myotonic dystrophy, and the beneficial and toxicological effects of phytoestrogens, with the latter including the running of a number of short and longer term intervention trials both with healthy volunteers and prostate cancer patients awaiting surgery.
During the last 14 years, Julie has developed a wealth of experience in relationship management and commercialisation having managed a portfolio of high growth life sciences companies, providing advice on strategy, investment, business planning and commercialisation.
Julie has built up a strong network of contacts across life sciences leadership, investment finance and corporate venture groups. Since joining the DDU in 2013 she has been building the profile of the Unit through international biopharmaceutical partnering events as well as developing strategic relationships with institutes and industry in the UK.
